Hi Jesse,

Thanks for your recent additions to OSM.

In this changeset you added Muddy Fork Farm - do you know what kind of farm it is? Does it only cover the area around the building or is it much larger?

Did you intend to add this park over Dilenbeck Drive and adjacent houses? Please only add real features to OSM.

Hi TdSTT,

It looks like you've placed a church in an alleyway here. Do you have more information about what it is supposed to be?

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your recent addition and welcome to OSM!

I noticed you added an additional park over Croxton Station, Spencer Reserve and Stott Reserve - you may have missed them, but there are already two parks mapped at this location:
way/276261713
and
way/276261712

Were you trying to add something more specific? I might be able to help you or give some advice :-)

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I made a few adjustments/enhancements to the location to show how I would map the area based on your original edits, the comment above and a little reading.

The main changes I made are - adding the log cabin as a community centre:
OSM wiki definition:
amenity=community_centre
and then marking the entire area around the cabin as a park.

I also added a gazebo and the historic water pump at the location that I could see in imagery and read about.

Additionally, I split the name for the log cabin between a formal and local name (loc_name). The sources I could use were limited due to the requirements of OSM, so you might want to check what I've done and make any required changes for consistencies/accuracy's sake :).

Hi!

Welcome to OSM and thanks for your recent additions!

landuse=forest is typically used to represent managed forests (like state forests or those used for lumber production). As there is only a number of trees where you mapped them, it might be better to add them individually or use the tag landcover=trees on the area instead.

Hello!
A log cabin typically isn't a park, what are you trying to add here?

72202550 over 6 years ago

Hi and welcome to OSM! Thanks for your recent additions to the map.

Just an observation on your recent edits though: you've applied landuse=grass and a number of other grass related tags (grass=grass?) to features that aren't simply grass, such as large residential areas and other features. Please try to keep your edits accurate and check the OSM wiki if you need guidance in how best to tag areas.

Hi,

This really isn't what the garden tag is intended for, see:
osm.wiki/Limitations_on_mapping_private_information

"Limit the detail of mapping private backyards. As a guideline, permanently installed private swimming pools, or some structure of a semi-public garden appear to be the borderline of being acceptable. Add access=private as appropriate."

Hi Aidan,

What are you actually trying to add here? I can't see it on any imagery.

72027915 over 6 years ago

What are the tags leisure=grass and grass=leisure about? This is a residential block.

72027194 over 6 years ago

No, this entire residential block isn't a garden. What are you trying to add here?

Was this the feature you were trying to add? It's already on the map: way/667248104

OSM is a public map, please don't add personal details such as who lives in a particular house.

I think you might have missed your target with this one. You put a park in the middle of the harbor!

71802949 over 6 years ago

Also, sorry to pick on you but:
way/700973304

In OSM, natural=wood is normally defined in this way:
natural=wood
Basically as a "tree covered area"

I'm not sure what this location is (maybe a saw mill? industrial=sawmill) but you might want to revise your tagging :)

Hi there,

What is this park supposed to be?
node/6582969994
It looks like you've got it in a building.

Hi Marc,

Thank you for your fast reply.

I understand where you are coming from here, and I agree the not: prefix for tourism=camp_site would probably be appropriate in these cases.and would better match the existing tagging scheme for camp sites.

To use an example of a few rest areas near me, they are typically dotted with several "No Camping" signs, with one or two signs detailing the restrictions in more detail. These are typically coupled with parking limit signs of various times - one particular location near me has limits ranging from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on what position you park in, but they do have spots for caravans within those time limits, so caravan=no might be a cause of confusion.

Best,

Wood

Hi,

Thanks for your improvements around Australia. Looking at your adjustments to the camp_site tag on certain rest stops, though - many rest stops around Australia do not permit camping of any kind. This isn't limited to tents, parking a caravan or camper van in many rest stops for too long will invite a knock on the door from local council rangers or the police asking you to move along. I'm not sure if tents=no is a suitable replacement in these cases, as it really doesn't fully encompass the limitations on these locations.

Please don't add fake features like parks to OSM - the imagery for this area is quite current and you can clearly see that the houses are still present.
