The roof is better mapped as a rectangle, it is the truth as the roof is not a single point, and it will then render.

The picnic site is an area, if that table is in use I would simply use the lookout area. So I have no problem separating it from that single node.

Then the contentious issue - the trig point and the peak. I would take the peak as being the highest point of the ground - not the trees nor the building nor the trig point. The area is relatively flat, the area around the building appears to have been graded - therefore lowered. So I would think the present real peak is not there but a short distance away.

Next .. any map maker will tell you they distort the map in order to be able to present information. In OSM we accept boundary simplifications with some degree of error.

So:
the trig point remains as a single node
the roof as an area coaxial with the roof
the picnic site as a node off to the side (would be better as an area but too indistinct for me.)
the peak as a node a little way south

Given all the above I think my changes are acceptable as they are more likely to present the information to the end user rather than have it hidden by one of the features.

If there are two things that are co-located .. then two nodes - one for each would meet the guide? osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element
One feature = one OSM element. Not one OSM element (in this case a single node) representing some 4 features.

Hi,
Way: Hume Highway (574630359) does not connect to Way: Hume Highway (574630359) .. it should.

Hi,
What is this ref=1 on Edith rd and Jenolan Caves Rd? The 'standard' render is showing .. and it triggers me thinking it is hwy 1...
So ref .. from where?

OSM guide is one feature one entry in OSM..
So I have taken Node: Mount Piddington (400898104) and removed from it

the roof - now a new way
the picnic site .. a new node
peak - new now with ele from LPI topo

Hi,
Very welcome to OSM! There are few mappers in that area of the world.

The buildings are usually 'square' with right angled corners. iD has a tool that will square them up for you ... see https://learnosm.org/en/hot-tips/tracing-rectangular-buildings/
I think the keyboard short cut is 'S' but I am not an iD user.

Hi,
Not only does the LPI Base Map give you a name.. it gives you a road classification...
tracks have black dashed lines on either side of a white 'road'. Unclassified are solid black lines on either side of a white 'road'.

Hi,
way/673509617 made into a multi poyon retlation. It is the only method to have an area with a hole in it.

67539063 almost 7 years ago

There is always more to do. If the camp site has no name .. I'd use the tag noname=yes.
Enjoy.

Hi,
Multipolygon relations outer ways should not cross nor share segments.
As it was there were 2 segments that were in the same place - a shared segment.

Way: 672635227 was closed, I broke it into 2 parts .. the bit that remains and a bit that connected the open ends, this bit I deleted. One of the other 2 ways had a bit that duplicated the above deleted bit. I separated that out and deleted that too.
The remaining 3 ways connect together but do not cross nor share segments.

Does that make sense?

Note on camp sites... there is a page that is trying to improve there mapping ..
https://opencampingmap.org/#12/-34.3755/140.5042/0/0/bef
Quite a few to improve on... in that area.
Good Luck.

Set section Terrys Creek (underground) back to LPI Base map.
Imagery does not tell where something is when it is underground so that source is not relevant.

65402655 almost 7 years ago

What is your source for moving Terrys Creek to run nuder Progress Ave?

67480996 almost 7 years ago

Err .. relation for the railway=station 9348855 has 4 members .. no roles .. does not make sense.

I have deleted it. The tag railway=station is now on what was the outer way - Way: 672396971. The building in the middle is possibly a roof? And therefore layer=1?

A large section of way/671072048 is one way. It is paved and one end is a turning circle ... these kind of details make the map better..

Keep mapping.

Hi,

You will find the LPI Base Map to be most usefull. It shows;

where roads go in tree cover.

the road name

the road classification -dashed road borders = track (not unclassified - those are a solid black line either side)

Use imagery to confirm .. some things shown in the Base Map may be old.

The lat/long accuracy in the Base Map is very good. Better than Bing/Ersi

Hi,
This wetland (relation/9330818) has taken some of its boundaries from administrative boundaries ... not good.
And it crosses it self .. not good.

Suggest that land covers be entered without regard to administrative boundaries..

Done my best with it.

Hi,

You have made this interior of Hull Island as part of the national park.
Unfortunately it is already part of the national park - on the outer way. So this bit is counted twice.
I have corrected this.

Hi,

This has placed the same tags on the outer way as there is in the relation ...not allowed.

---------------------
I would also add the tag landcover=grass as well as that ridiculous tag landuse=grass.

Hi,
this broke administration boundaries...
I have fixed it.
