7 months ago | Thank you for using a small changeset size and a proper comment describing what you did. This makes it much easier to give feedback. Because the spelling of the name as written in reality is a bit different from the correct spelling it should still be tagged for searchability. For names assigned by government agencies like DPWH the tag nat_name is commonly used.
7 months ago | Good morning. Creating new accounts will not help you to avoid the questions that you have been asked. (changeset/166552377) / (osm.org/user_blocks/18289) For as long as your edits are problematic and of low quality they will always be fixed or reverted by other mappers. The only way forward is to learn about how to map things properly (OSM wiki ist your best guide) and to talk to other mappers if they point out problems.
7 months ago | Hi Carl, welcome to OSM and thanks for adding this school to the map!
7 months ago | Thanks! I changed it to access=no.
7 months ago | Maayong hapon. I noticed this barrier without access tags: node/11951941977 Does the block prevent people from using the stairs or is it still passable?
7 months ago | Good afternoon. There is a solid consensus in the OSM community to only add language specific names (same for brand and operator tags) if they’re actually in use and verifiable. This does not seem to be the case for the :id and :it tag variants that you added in this changeset. What benefits do you see in adding these tags? The downside of having such translations in OSM data is that map users with system language in a given language get to see fictional names instead of what's actually on the ground.
7 months ago | Good afternoon and welcome to OpenStreetMap. Adding places like dentists, cafes, etc. is really helpful for other people using the map. But for personal information like who lives in a place please use the bookmark function instead of adding it to the public map. Thanks!
| 166552377 | 7 months ago | Good evening. OpenStreetMap is a community project. We're all trying to make a better map and we have to work together to achieve this. There are well established guidelines on how we map different things in OSM. If you want to be a part of this project you really have to familiarize yourself with these mapping conventions and if other mappers point out issues with your edits it's expected from you that you either respond to the concerns or at least change the part of your mapping that is problematic. I have reached out to you about this several times on your previous account through private messages and changeset comments (for example here: changeset/166054144). Many of your contribtutions are really awesome and a huge improvement for OSM. But please reflect on the following issues: - Change road classifications only on case-by-case basis, if you're considering upgrading 50 different roads at the same time it is more likely that you misunderstand the classification system than that the classifications are wrong - Use proper changeset comments, describe with a few words what you did, "local knowlege" should go to the source field instead (or better
- For tagging about who or what a feature is named after you should use name:etymology:wikidata/wikipedia. The normal wikidata/wikipedia tags are for pages about the object itself (for example https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q56283912). - For streets the main name tag should contain the name that is commonly used on signage, for addresses or in everyday language e.g. "General Santos Drive". More complex long forms that are only rarely used e.g. "General Paulino T. Santos Sr. Drive" are more suitable for official_name tag. - Residential=gated is not a very helpful tag. If an area is gated can already be seen by the presence of gates and access tags. Both gated and open subdivisions come in different forms which can be described with residential=urban/rural/single_family and more (see residential=*). Apologies for this message being very long, but given the large volume of your edits this was somewhat unavoidable. I would be really glad to hear back from you! By the way if you're not comfortable writing in English, feel free to reply in Bisaya, Tagalog, Ilongo or whatever language you prefer ;) |
7 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap and thanks for your edits! Are the names that you added street names (Looban Street, Santo Niño Street, etc.) or are they names for areas like puroks or sitios?
7 months ago | Reverted in changeset/166231425
7 months ago | I finished mapping the road network now. Would be awesome if you could add the street names like you did in Camella Prima! Also, do you know if the subdivision is private or open?
7 months ago | Good afternoon. It seems like you accidentally changed access tags for all streets in this neighbourhood from private to no based on some QA flag, making the entire area unroutable. When trying to solve issues remotely it's usually very helpful to look at way histories. In this case the cause of the sink island was caused by an incorrect oneway tag on the entrance street. Also, "fix street" is not a very meaningful changeset comment. Please have a look at: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Thanks!
7 months ago | Good afternoon and thanks for your continued contributions to OSM! Is it possible that you're not aware of the OSM message inbox? I've sent you two messages with explanations and links to mapping conventions for road classifications. The fact that you repeatedly upgraded the same roads to highway=tertiary makes me think you might not have received these messages. Here's another example for some of the roads edited in this changeset: Arellano Street, Primitivo S. Osita Street, Ireneo S. Osita Street, Doña Lourdes Street and the road in Depita Subdivision all run parallel to each other. Tertiary classification is used for the main roads in and between barangays. Having 5 tertiaries in such close proximity does not seem to be justified here. Arellano Street and the road in Depita clearly have higher importance by design as they do allow for crossing of the national highway while the 3 roads in between have a more local function primarily serving traffic to and from destinations around Osita Subdivision. Given the increasing amount of non-residential establishments in the area highway=unclassified seems appropriate for these. Looking forward to hear your thoughts on this!
8 months ago | Good afternoon. Not sure if you're familiar with Stava, it's an app for recording and sharing gps tracks of sport activities. Looks like a lot of people have uploaded their runs in this subdivision. We can use this tracks to map the newly built streets even if they don't show up on satellite imagery yet. Would you like to give it a try? Just use this browser extension to access the heatmap in the editor: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/id-strava-heatmap/eglbcifjafncknmpmnelckombmgddlco
8 months ago | For privacy reasons personal information like names of building owners or residents should not be added to OSM. For more details see here: osm.wiki/Mapping_private_information Can you please remove the names that you added here and in other edits?
8 months ago | Good afternoon. Why did you change the name of this substation (way/116434364) from "Davao Substation" to "DavaoCity_Substation"? The name tag should contain the actual locally used name with proper spacing and no special symbols like underline. Also descriptive names like this one here (way/1373308965) should not be added. It's okay to leave name tag empty for obects that don't have a proper name. Lastly, please don't just comment every upload with "detailing". Changeset comment should contain a brief description of the edits that you made. It's also very hepful if you mention your sources, e.g. ground survey if you visited a place in person. osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Thank you.
| 165241749 | 8 months ago | Good afternoon and welcome to OpenStreetMap. Looks like you accidentally changed the name of this peak (node/10113632954/history). The OSM object for Lipadas River can be found here: relation/17512729 Are there any changes or improvements that you would like to make to the river? Best regards,

8 months ago | *is gated
8 months ago | Welcome to OSM and thank you for adding this new neighbourhood. I changed it from a node to a landuse area and also mapped the street network. Do you know if the subdivision is gates? If yes then you could add the gates at the entrances and access=private on the streets. Best regards, Timmy
