Hi Atavoidirc, you changed the original Wikipedia article to a redirect link, i.e en:UTC−01:00 → en:UTC-01:00. Please review your edit.

Hello Gregam530, please consider and respond to the comment I left on your previous changeset.

Hi MonteDesert, you seem to have access to recent imagery. The road you extended crosses a stream. Can you verify whether there is a culvert or a bridge at the intersection and apply the appropriate fix?

Hello Dosoo Othniel, welcome to OSM. Please note that the accepted way of adding names of places is using the Title Case. ALL UPPERCASE NAMES are not favoured. I'll advise you to modify your changes to match the ones around, e.g Golden Jubilee Clinic, Bungalow 1, Old Dining Hall, etc.

Hi Paul, welcome to OSM. Thanks for adding the school. You should have written the name the same way you wrote it in the changeset comment. You also needed to add the amenity=school tag.

Hello albert12@, this changeset and a few others you have made today have crossing buildings. Buildings shouldn't overlap each other. The editor warns you about this mistake, so kindly fix it before you save/upload.

Hello Gregam530, I see you have changed/reverted some additions and modifications I made to this bank branch.

First, the position of the bank is on Galloway Road. Amoonakwa Road is down south and ends at the crossing with Commercial Street. Unless that's wrong, the right addr:street should be Galloway Road.

Secondly, the initial opening hours you added are the right ones. The opening_hours for a bank reflects the hours that they are operating with staff. 24/7 may be for the ATM.

Thirdly, the standardised way of recording phone numbers in OSM is with the country dialling code (+233 for Ghana) and the local number without the starting zero. This allows anyone worldwide to call the number.

Lastly, the operator tag represents the entity (person or company) operating a business, and here we normally use the official registered name of the company. Additionally, the branch details are typically added in the branch=* tag and excluded from the name tag. An alt_name can be used for the combination of the two.

I hope this feedback helps.
Happy mapping!!

Best,
Sam

Hello once again F y. As I commented on a previous changeset, tagging a building with building=yes is enough. Don't add name=building because the name tag is reserved for actual names (e.g. Jubilee House, Aseda House).

Sam

Hello FACUOS, the name and brand details of banks and other POIs are necessary and useful. Please don't remove them. If this was accidental, kindly pay more attention the next time.

It would be great if you could also add the names of the restaurants, bars, and fast food joints you add to the map.

Best,
Sam

Hello FACUOS, the building here was already well mapped, and there was no need to delete it and replace it with what you mapped. Your changes have been reversed as a result.

Sam

Hello Kraklord, can you verify if you placed the ATM at the right position?

Hello Ahmedstreets,

Welcome to OSM and thanks for your contributions. There are a few things you need to be aware of as you contribute to OSM.

First, we use Title Case for names but not UPPER CASE.
Secondly, the addr:street is reserved for the street the place is located. Not all streets in Ghana are properly named and signed so if there isn't one, don't make it up. Additionally, the street name should also be present in OSM.
Lastly, the tag values should match the keys. For example, Adenta is a suburb of Accra, so the right address key for it is addr:suburb. addr:city doesn't fit because Adenta is not a city.

Sam

Hello Mohammed,
name=street is generic and incorrect to use. The name tag is used for known names, but not for the description of what an object is. One example of its correct use is the "highway=tertiary +
name=Chereponi-Wenchiki". If you add name=street to every road you map, then we won't be able to tell one street from the other.

Additionally, use Title Case for correct names, i.e capitalise the first letter of each word in a name except conjunctions (of, and, etc).

Lastly, roads should connect with other roads. Don't place the start or end node of a new road you map close to existing ones, but rather connect it to them with no gap left.

Happy mapping!

Sam

Hi Mohammed,
Places are mapped as nodes at the centre of the city/town/village, and a landuse polygon is added to cover the extent. The name of the place is not added to the landuse polygon. Therefore, the changes you made here will be reverted.

Thanks for your contributions, and keep on mapping.

Hello Mohammed,
Welcome to OSM and thanks for adding your local knowledge to the map. When there are changes in a road, edit the existing one. Adding a duplicate geometry is incorrect.

I'll fix this, but take note for future edits.

Sam

Hello Miss Blay,
Thanks for adding these buildings. As the editor may have pointed out before you saved, using "building" as a name is generic and unnecessary. Only add recognised names to buildings.

Hello Naja,
Welcome to OSM, and thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana. You are making valuable contributions.

One thing you should note is that we don't use ALL UPPER CASE values in OSM, but rather Title Case. I reviewed and corrected your earlier changeset. Please consider this for future additions and correct the ones you've already mapped.

Also, addr:city is used for cities like Accra, Kumasi, etc. Kpassa is a town so addr:town is more suitable.

Happy mapping!

Sam

Hi Adorama,
Welcome to OSM, and thanks for your valuable contributions.

OSM has a standard for recording opening hours and service times, which you can find here: opening_hours=*. You used it correctly for the police station, but not for the others.

It's also not right to add building=* tag to an amenity if you are mapping the entire land area it covers. The building tag is for buildings only.

Happy mapping!

Best,
Sam
