This location is called Secret Gulch. Its about 7 miles north of the Freeaway

Garnet is actually Garnet Ghost Town. There are no residents, and has been abandoned since the early 1960s. There are 30 plus buildings dating back to 1896.
The town is managed by BLM and the Garnet Preservation Association.

Bear Gultch, aka First Chance Road

The road is rutted, single lane, with limited pullouts. There are no guardrails, with very steep drop offs. The grades are between 15 and 20%. This road is not recommended for low clearance vehicles, vehicles pulling trailers or RVS. This road is not recommended for anyone that is uncomfortable with driving steep mountain terrain.

Maricopa County is finishing bridge over the canal. Camelback no longer ends, it’s a through road.
