It would be more appropriate to set to light_rail but I have chosen not brake some routing options that might suggest it being open. But "we do not edit maps for the renderer." Or the implied meaning of a render. I will agree that both lifecycle tags and railroad tags are different in the way tags things from other features. It is important to supply as much detail to a map.

No. trains are now active on this line and it is functional and usable. Please set the construction to the relation as that attribute of use of light rail line continues to be under construction.

As put forth in the guidelines this is not the place to discuss the "concern with the actual data" The process that is laid out in the import guidelines is where this discussion is supposed to occur.

MY understanding is that the "did't ask permission" is a paper trail for the licensing and understanding so that we don't have licensing or other issues from the owner of the data. osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines#Document_your_import
It is also my understanding that guidelines are put in place so that rouge imports don't mess with existing data.
osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines

Thank You for your understanding and getting involved. Please get started with the guidelines and open a Potential Data sources here: osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines#Discuss_your_proposed_import
Glassman will likely reply tomorrow with better detail that I don't know about as this process is not something I do regularly.

If you have further questions for me, you can reply here, message me directly through OSM, find me on Slack or the Discord Server.

Kind Regards, Nat

These must be mountain bike trails not used for pedestrians. Otherwise I can't think of why I would have used this tag.

Thanks Ironmatic1 to answer your questions.
1) These will eventually be deleted as they are outside the scope of OSM.
2) Mapping for the renderer is not allowed.

And we have OHM to take up where we want to save this sort of old data. Believe me I have been down this road. I have vouched for all of the above. We can chat about this further on Discord and/or Slack.

Hello ironmatic1,
Unfortunately things get deleted in OSM from time to time. Things that can be classified as history often get deleted and mapping for the renderer is not allowed. If you want this sort of data to persist the best option is Open Historical Map.
I'd be happy to help in any way. I edit railroads here and on Open Historical Map.
I just added this line in OHM. Please create an account and add the details.
Best regards, Natfoot

The Port Angles location has not been changed yet. Also SPB is listed for the location by the State of Washington for the Lake Union location, where you have LKE. Could you please let me know where I can find this data to reference.

Hey, Thank You for adding this information. Another tag that you could add is railway:signal:main:form=sign
Don't worry I am inconsistent at adding this to all the lights. eg. railway:signal:main:form=light

The problem like a lot of these paths is not if it does or does not exist the problem is if it is legal or trespassing. Has the user identified themselves as the property owner?

yes that must be a typo.

Thanks for the pointers at the Mapillary. I changed it as well as the signs that are there. I will need to go back and look at how to add the Begin CTC to OSM. CTC is Centerlized Traffic Control a dispatching system for the railroad.

Howdy, Sense we are having conversations in the comments section. The signals here node/7091921118#map=19/39.76207/-104.99537
If you look at the bing imagery you can see that the signal heads are pointed only in one direction rather than "both" I can see that this control point or railway=junction does have signals in both directions but have two locations of the signals. Do you have updated information for this? What are your thoughts on signals position either in line or along side of the railway line?

Howdy, It has been changed back.

Howdy, If these are gone mapping them as railway:razed is an acceptable use of the railway tag. I would encourage you in the future to not delete railway items that have been removed and to tag to them with railway:razed Keeping complete data will reduce questions in the future.

I did use the Maxar imagery as well as the bing imagery. Mostly I am using the bing imagery to get the switches right on the switch stands and to correctly identify the locations of derails.

I am well aware of what railroads are and how they are appropriately tagged within OSM. I am also aware of how complicated the OSM tagging system is for railways and how the documentation on the wiki could be better. Have you seen openrailwaymap.org? I encourage you to see what the railroad mapping community has done for the united states.

Also the 3D mapping you have done is impressive. Though f4viewer is incorrectly rendering the railway class rather than the tagged item. For instance it is rendering railroads for railway:construction and railway:abandoned.

Best Regards,
Nat
