This path used to run alongside an Emu enclosure, which was then enlarged to encompass the RoW. One of the more unusual rambling deterrents I've come across.

Notts Ramblers are claiming this path & Westby Lane to where path crosses at Babbington House Farm as a PRoW (https://us10.campaign-archive.com/?u=245d7cb78245b845de0263ef7&id=5d1cd46d16). Will need to check my photos from the PRoW survey in the area & look at status of end of Westby Lane ('private' road or public highway).

There was also a commonly used path from the end of Westby Lane through Babbington Wood (site of an old mine) and continuing along the field boundary to meet the marked RoW by Quarry House at Swingate. This path is shown on most OS maps of recent vintage, and was popular with local dog walkers and ramblers for decades until recently blocked effectively by the new landowner, for private recreation schemes.
I've been told a local agricultural worker that in the years following WWII this became a replacement right of way when nearby open cast mining blocked an existing right of way, but it had remained in regular use by locals ever since.

The path to Babbington runs along this field and parish boundary, this field is now arable, after decades of hay production, with wheat seedlings and the track ploughed out.

This stile is now in a state of disrepair and there are various wide gaps in the field boundary, through one of which is an increasingly popular path running almost parallel to the west of the RoW, initiated by recent farm vehicle usage, and less muddy than the RoW route.

An electric gate was installed across this farm access/bridle path, in 2019 I think. A horse stile has been included on the western side of this gate, although wheelchair access is thereby now obstructed.
(Around the same time a similar gate was installed on Robinette's Lane by Moss Cottage.)
More recently the corner of the field immediately to the south east of the gate here at Swingate Farm has been fenced off for caravans and some camping, 10-15 pitches approx.

An electric gate was installed across the track here during 2019, leaving a gap for shod & wheeled access on the northern side.

There is no gate here, just a public footpath
