For a Missing Maps event in Amsterdam and London, next wednesday august 19th, the Netherlands Red Cross is going to map the south of Benin, specifically some villages prone to flooding and Porto-Novo.

Due to this flooding, roads are used in two ways during the year:

• Dry season: normal vehicles on road
• Wet season: boats on these same roads, which are then flooded

We are trying to decide how to tag these roads:

• tag the roads as ‘highway residential’
• add the tag ‘seasonal=yes’ AND/OR
• add the tag ‘flood_prone=yes’

Additionally, the rivers have specific docking areas for canoes. We are still deciding whether to map these. And if so, what are the proper tags.
