Fords are about getting across, but not necessarily dry.
Meanwhile, in the summer the river dries out enough you can cross it on foot without getting wet, and i've seen cars crossing it there a year or two ago. Not sure if they do these days.

I'm not aware of any specific tagging for personal plots; it's just a landuse=residential if it has housing.

I think landuse=allotments is inappropriate, since people live there, and landuse=allotments suggests quite a narrow case of land rented exclusively for gardening.
