I suggest you look at it again. The way connects a number of settlements. Part of it may well be alongside a stream. If you'd like to add the stream in feel free. If you'd like to break the way up feel free as well. However I don't think the entire way should be tagged as a stream though.

Have fun John

Changed. I did wonder at the logic but it makes sense. Thanks John

Could you confirm the driveway type at 563 Merkley Drive is asphalt please? The last time I looked it was paving brick and has been for the last ten years.

Highway=residential rather than alley perhaps?

Routing software routes from named place to named place. The dumb ones need a highway connection so either the place=area has a highway connection or if it is on the highway node it knows where to find it. Some place nodes do not have a name but I'm hopeful that someone with a smartphone will come along and add the name. Note there are two schools of thought one says the place name should be on the area and the other on a node. Some renders will only display the names on nodes at a certain zoom level.

Nothing sinister as far as I'm aware.

Looking again there seems to be a number of unconnected highways here. Sometimes in HOT they get mapped on one tile but not the other.

Odd things happen sometimes.

Not a problem, my suspicion is if they were deleted the map would be smaller and no one would notice.

These are on ways and nodes that I have amended and if you look at the history you'll see who added this tag originally. <crtl>h in josm.

From memory they originate from a user who was working for a company and I suspect it is just advertising but I
suggest you dig a little deeper first.

I'm working in Mali at the moment but my French is not the best and I'm not aware of any local mappers who might be best placed to add detail.

Currently I'm scrolling through adding in settlements and highways but highway classification above unclassified I prefer to leave to locals.

Well yes roof:levels=1 is technically correct but look it up in map features. Did you mean to use building:levels=1?

I know this stuff is quite old but if you could run your eye over it.

Thanks John

>landuse=residential is more group of area.

"The landuse tag is mostly used for larger areas and not at parcel granularity;"

place=plot is better but check the wiki please.

Thanks John

Runways for aeroplanes are usually straight.

Are you sure this is a runway and not a highway unclassified?

For some reason the name seems to be flipping back and forth between 422 and Waukegan & Walnut.

Why 422?

I'm happy and content. There is a lot of questionable mapping in Mali if you feel like taking a look at the relationships there.

John

74055733 over 6 years ago

One user seems to have created relationships of nodes and added country= etc etc.; A number of mappers have removed some of their tags which were blank etc. For a node I can't see the logic. In this case it may have been converted to a small way.

Relationships are not a strong point of mine perhaps you have a different suggestion on how to tackle them?

Thanks John

You seem to have removed multiple tags for building=yes.

Tertiary is the classification for a more major highway joining a number of villages. Unclassified is the lowest of the low.

osm.wiki/Highway_Tag_Africa

Since you aren't on the ground I suggest you do not downgrade classifications.

At least one very long track appears to have been added which appears not to follow the African highway wiki guidelines.

If you do a Crtl<H> in JOSM it will give you the history. I changed _id to id.

If you contact the first mapper who added it they maybe able to give more details.

You appear to have imported highways over existing highways.

It appears to be a mess.

Any comments?

Thanks John
