Hello! I am an active contributor to OpenStreetMap and Wikidata, focusing on Brussels and Belgium. My main interest is linking Wikidata entries to OpenStreetMap features and vice versa, creating connections between structured knowledge and geographic data. I also try to add names of features in Belgian minority languages such as Picard, Walloon, and West Flemish. My goal is not only to provide names for Belgian features but also to include translations of feature names in these minority languages whenever possible. I began doing this because I am saddened that these languages are on the verge of disappearing, and I hope this work helps preserve them.
I started contributing during the COVID-19 lockdown, and this work has grown into a passion for documenting historical, cultural, and architectural landmarks in a way that makes both data and maps more accurate and useful. I am also active on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, mostly in English and Dutch, where I document Brussels’ history, culture, and architecture. My experience in the creative and cultural field informs my approach to editing and mapping, especially when visual documentation and storytelling are involved.
I see Wikidata and OpenStreetMap as complementary tools that, when connected, help preserve heritage, improve accessibility, and provide a richer understanding of places. I enjoy collaborating with others and believe that linking open knowledge, mapping, and minority-language preservation strengthens communities and the public availability of information.
