Boycotting OSM over SOTM 2024's tacit support of LGBTQ criminalization

boycott OpenStreetMap … I suggest all LGBTQ allies do likewise.

Overture Maps at State of the Map Europe 2023

“Our project needs managers. We need a CEO. “CEO of OpenStreetMap” “

instead of CEO, my proposal:

  • OCEM Shepherd: OpenStreetMap Chief Executive Mapper

The use of Free and Open Source Software in the OpenStreetMap Foundation

@xamanu: “In the end, I’m very much convinced, people can and should decide for themselves.”

the clear OSMF FOSS guideline and checklist is very important, because the github exodus has been started ( ~ because we have a FOSS policy and there is a recommendation inside )

On the other hand we also have a diversity policy:

“The OpenStreetMap Foundation and the global OpenStreetMap community welcome and encourage participation by everyone.”

imho: the definition of the “everyone” == ( current and future github users included and not excluded ) ! so every big changes like this “github exodus” .. should be discussed by the “OSMF Diversity and Inclusion Special Committee” because it has a long term effect.

So if the” diversity policy” is important —-> probably we need multiple git mirror - as in the postgis project
