The pentagram is a natural occurring symbol. It is not hard to imagine why the paths are in the shape of a pentagon. Anywhere you have five nodes connected in every way you have a pentagram.
And about the Masonic square and compass, in the late medieval every mason had to be member of the freemasons to get a job. You don't think it is a conspiracy when you see all cab drivers are connected the same organization?

Unlike OSM wikipedia uses the "Don't care about where it comes from" approach to data gathering. There are no "source" tag on wikipedia as there is in OSM. Images are usually user work or derived from a number of sources that a user has made his own work.
I think some license laws permits uses of a small part of data in derived works as long as it is not a vital part of the derived work. This does not apply to map data as every part is a vital part.

I got half a commit rendered. Took 30sec for mapnik to rerender after the commit.

Wow, this looks amazing. Just make sure it does not hit performance to much.

Ideas for improvment:
Icons on ways as well.
It would be nice to see what way(s) a node belongs to on the same page.

A doctor witch have to be public to get clients is ok. But there are personal businesses witch do not get their clients by advertising, like an engineer or some lawers office. Here we should not import the name to osm.

Are you sure you are opening the xml file in UTF-8?
See if you find an option to specify the file encoding and select UTF-8.

1. Download the right gmapsup.img file osm.wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download
2. Connect your GPS and put it in mass storage mode osm.wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Mass_Storage_Mode
3. Rename/move the exsisting gmapsup.img file on the device as backup
4. Copy the new gmapsup.img file to your device where your old file was before you renamed it

The file layout on the device is just like before you started, but the gmapsup.img file contains the osm map. The name of the file is important.

It could take some minutes to process the trace. Just wait for the confirmation e-mail.

gpsbabel fixes most problems, sometimes a bit hard to use.
The other thing you might try is to set the gps to storage mode, that way you can copy the trace using a file manager.
You could try removing the flash card and use an external card reader.

What do you mean by 'exclude'?
If you mean 'delete' that is not possible for a reason. If you have a vary good reason to delete your account e-mail one of the administrators.

If the rail is in OSM you can export the OSM map as SVG, edit the map to highlight the rail and the stations, then upload to Wikipedia.

But still why? What advantage does we get?

We have a central database and a CVS. Why use git? There are no problem with how things are done today.
And there are far to much data to use a distributed repository. You might use a DHT if you insist on distributing the data but the lookup time would be to long.

The best way to handle the huge amount of data is with a central database.

Somebody ban his IP or something. Or better come knocking on his door and *** his *** out of his *** so that he *** all over ***. That will teach him the price of vandalism.
Just remember that OSM is all about the love of map making and discourage all kind of violent behavior.

That just shows how fast open source is for you. When you are maping it on opening and gets beaten to it. Just wait for any comersial map to get that new road in their products.
Conflicting spelling are hard to handle. I recomend you call an official and asks if he could help you. Upon investigation he might find the real spelling and classification, and you will raise awairness.

Your effort is not wasted.
A gps trace is better then an import because it reflects reality better. Altso road imports have just been used for USA and the Netherlands. Still most of the data on OSM are from traces.
Altso imports does not come with POIs and other data important to make a map complete.
Your effort helps alot and an import can never be as good as a trace.

I recomend trying JOSM, a java program for editing OSM. The editor on this page (Potlatch) is best for quick fixes.
In your area there are a lot of TIGER data that needs reviewing. Look at osm.wiki/Josm#First_Steps for tutorials on haw to do this.
