| 110534750 | over 4 years ago | #TIP: OSM spells out street names. The reason is that software has a hard time unabbreviating. Can you change the street name?

| 110465636 | over 4 years ago | I reverted the changeset after consulting with another local mapper. Feel free to reach out when you want to attempt this again. |
| 110465636 | over 4 years ago | I agree with your thought on turns. However, I'm not sure if this is the best way to fix the problem. First, 5th Avenue is a secondary - all lanes are should be the same. Second, turn restrictions are needed at the intersections. And third, where the lane crosses a pedestrian crossing there needs to be a node there with the tag cross=marked + highway=crossing. (see the other crossings to see how they are tagged.) Fourth there needs to be a node where the new way crosses the cycleway. I'd recommend reverting this edit for now and discussing how to properly map the street. Let me know and I can revert easily. I'm going to send you a message with more information on OSM. In there is a link to the Slack community. Once you join we can bring the issue up with the community. Please don't take this as you've done something wrong. Your first edit is really interesting. Getting more input would be a good.

| 110190342 | over 4 years ago | That's a big understatement! The wiki can certainly be helpful although at times confusing. Best thing I can suggest is to join us on slack. osmus.slack.com. We have plenty of people that use ArcGIS in their jobs and might be better at explaining things that I am as a QGIS user. |
| 110190342 | over 4 years ago | So it's more complex. Icicle Ridge Tail is built as a relation. See relation/9314594. The relation contains the ref tag so it's not needed on individual segments. BTW - I noticed that the first segment that connects to a parking lot in Leavenworth was missing from the relation so I added it. Most trails don't require a relation. This trail only needs it because its part of a local network. Then there is the big trails, like the PCT that is so large it's made of relation segments. For example here is the north US end of the PCT relation/1322978 |

However, Strava allows us to use their data. Assuming you are a Strava user, you can use their gps points to map trails. There is instructions on the wiki to use their gps data with the editor. See osm.wiki/Strava. They used to have a cool version of the editor that allowed creating of trails using AI. You might give it a try. So many people use Strava it makes for a good resource. |
| 110144766 | over 4 years ago | As long as the source is open data. Taking it from a private company, like google or even a trail map would be wrong and should be removed. BTW - in the editor we have various background imagery that you can use. Some produce better imagery others are more recent. The National Agriculture Imagery Program is usually the most current but is a lower resolution. The imagery is found in the background icon on the right side of the editor. |
| 110143438 | over 4 years ago | Yes. Just add the highway tag. Then both use cases are satisfied with one way. |
| 110190342 | over 4 years ago | Since the Icicle Ridge Trail is made of of segments of highway=path, I don't believe the ref=1570 is needed. However having it doesn't cause a problem. If the trail is marked at 1570 then it's appropriate to add the ref number.

| 110145217 | over 4 years ago | #TIP: highway=footway is what we'd call a sidewalk in the US. highway=path is what we'd call a trail. Can you look at this again?
|
| 110144766 | over 4 years ago | The Climb it Change Lower trail does not show on any of the background imagery? Do you have gps traces for this route?
|
| 110143438 | over 4 years ago | By removing the piste:type=nordic, it likely won't show on any snow maps, such as opensnowmap.org. A trail can be both a crosscountry ski route and a path. Can you look at this edit.

| 109685007 | over 4 years ago | Can you look at the landuse=industrial you redrew? Part of it looks like retail space along Main Street and just to the east looks like commercial. At least that how the buildings are tagged.

| 110040199 | over 4 years ago | #TIP: Along with the house number, street name and zip code, the city is good information to add. The state can easily be discovered since OSM is basically just a geospatial database. However, the city isn't always what you'd think. (Thank the US Post Office for that). I'll send you more info on OSM in a message.

| 109927159 | over 4 years ago | #TIP: Look for construction that changes roads. In this case the new paved residential road no longer connects to the service road to the west. I went ahead and made the change.

| 109872124 | over 4 years ago | You are just like me - adding a service road to a coffee stand.
