Who am I?

  • I’m a uni student in Aberystwyth.
  • I try to use public transport or cycling when possible.
  • Pronouns: she/her.
  • You can also call me Lily.

OSM Wiki page: osm.wiki/User:Fgjgdrou
I am also on the OSM forum under the same name (https://community.openstreetmap.org/u/fgjgdrou/), though I don’t post much there. My OSM fediverse account: https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/[email protected]

Some of my mapping projects that I have done

  • Corrected the naming on various UK rail lines and add wikidata tags,
  • Updated the operator tagging on the Channel Tunnel,
  • Added UK features to OpenRailwayMap,

My Mapping Interests

Ways (Roads, Paths, etc)

  • Adding cycle & walking infrastructure,
  • Lighting,

Nodes (including buildings)

  • Separating out buildings to avoid ambiguity,
  • One large pet peeve of mine is multiple addresses to 1 building. In the field, I typically enter them as a range, but when I can sit down and use a more powerful editor, I try and separate them out into different buildings.
  • Adding addresses (I feel that this is a major downside of using OSM in a lot of places, so I want to fix that),

Miscellaneous

  • I really like to include anything accessibility related (tactile paving, surface, etc),
  • Again, I like to try and include lighting in roads/paths,
  • I want to add to this publicly avaliable resource, free for others, because of what it is.

Trains

  • As someone with a lot of knowledge about trains, I try to add data to the map. Previous edits have included re-naming all of the WOE, SWM, and CM (lines) to the correct name with a Wikidata tag, and adding many signals with full UK tagging.
  • I aim to eventually cover every single bit of track in the UK, correct all the bridges (I’ve seen many roads tagged as tunnels when it is actually a bridge over the road), add as much data, and trawl through the sectional appendices to add as much data as possible including speed limits. Yes it’s painful. Yes it’ll take a looong time, but the map will have more data!
