This area used to be a car park for the old magistrates court. When that was abandoned then developed into flats plus a restaurant the car park was discontinued and converted into a sort of town square where the Sunday Market is held. It is now a paved area with some landscaping, protected from parking by steel bollards, some removable.

The old magistrates court in Brentford was acquired by Abchurch Properties and converted into 10 flats plus a restaurant by 2014. It's new postcode (unique to the building) is TW8 8FJ.

The old pedestrian bridge was removed on 27 Mar 2018 and a much stronger new one installed the next day.
