"Амфитеатр

Построен в 1793 году по проекту архитектора В. Бренны в виде скамьи из пудостского камня, в центре которой на высоком постаменте находилась статуя богини Цереры. Каменный амфитеатр предназначался для размещения зрителей. На противоположном берегу Славянки находилась сцена, образованная обсадкой кустарником – Зеленый амфитеатр. Каменный амфитеатр был любимым местом наследника цесаревича Николая Александровича, после смерти которого, в 1866 году, на постаменте Цереры была установлена памятная доска. С этого времени амфитеатр получил название памятник Никсе («Никса» – домашнее имя цесаревича).

A Stone amphitheater was a favorite place of the Tsesarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich and after his death, in 1866, on the pedestal of Ceres was established memorial board. Since that time, the amphitheater got the name of the monument Knicks («Knicks» – the home-name of Crown Prince)."
