| 128971261 | about 3 years ago | Hi Boulton_Zak. Welcome to OpenStreetMap, and thank you for your contributions around Frankston. :) I noticed in your changes that you've changed the "flares" at roundabouts (the streets leading to the roundabouts), into link roads. Unfortunately, this doesn't match best practice for tagging roads. Link roads should be reserved for slip roads, and ramps; not points where a carriageway splits into two. osm.wiki/Link_(highway) Also, I noticed you've added names to some footpaths. We don't use the name field to describe an element, (osm.wiki/Names#Names_are_not_for_descriptions) and in these cases, it's best to leave the name field empty. There are loads of mappers in Australia, and we are a friendly bunch. I'd encourage you to join us on one of our social channels if you are interested. osm.wiki/Australian_Mapping_Community#Social_Channels Dian. |
| 128920065 | about 3 years ago | Hello, Please do not adjust u-turn and other turning lanes to have severe, smoothed angles. Doing so goes against the principle of keeping ways separate only when there is physical separation. Your edits cause issues for routing algorithms and other spatial analysis. As discussed previously, intersections in OSM are abstract representations of the road surface. If you are interested in meticulously drawing the area of the road, you should look into area:highway=*.

| 128862718 | about 3 years ago | Hi Luc, You seem to have readded some unofficial or incorrect names that don't match official sources. Would you be able to confirm the source of these changes? Dian |
| 116561042 | about 3 years ago | Hey Michael :) You've left an untagged line here: way/1024370761/history. Do you happen to remember what that facility was? |
| 128274930 | about 3 years ago | I'm using the recurse up and down features to take the nodes associated with schools, get the ways associated with them and then download all nodes in the way again. I'm sure there is a more efficient query, but it doesn't run too badly for my purposes. https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1nyW |
| 128274930 | about 3 years ago | Thanks Warin. To minimise the changes of making this error again I've adjusted the query I'm using to download schools so that it will also download ways attached to the school nodes. Dian |
| 128573791 | about 3 years ago | Hey Volga. I see you're adding "Service Road" to the names of service roads off Plenty Road, and adding names for drive throughts. The name field should not be used as a description field (osm.wiki/Names#Names_are_not_for_descriptions). In these cases, the name of the service road is the same as the main road, and drive throughs generally do not have an official name. Keep up the good work with your edits otherwise. :)

| 128574468 | about 3 years ago | Hey Volga, sorry, I didn't explain myself well. Each suburb is mapped using a relation which defines the administrative boundary. For Thomastown, for example, the details of the suburb are stored against the relation: relation/2386862. You can see the relation already has information about the population, wikipedia article, etc. You've added population to nodes that are currently listed as "labels" for these administrative relations. This means that the information is kept in two different places. The data doesn't need to be on the node if it is already connected to the relation. :) |
| 128574468 | about 3 years ago | Hi Volga, In this edit you've added population data to label nodes for administrative boundaries, where the relation already had a population listed. Do you mind reviewing your change to try and clear up this duplication? |
| 128503630 | about 3 years ago | Thanks Velloydy for getting back to me. I'm going to remove the name as it doesn't appear to be correct, and is from Google Maps. Unfortunately, due to license restrictions we cannot use Google Maps as a source of information for contributing to OSM. osm.wiki/Google If there are any compatible sources that use this name, or a survey shows signage using this name, then we can add it. |
| 128546685 | about 3 years ago | Hi Lucx, What is the source for some of these names that you have introduced? They don't appear to exist on official sources. Dian
|
| 128503630 | about 3 years ago | Hi Velloydy! I can't find the name "Fraser Street" in any official sources. Where did you get the name from? Dian

| 128416002 | about 3 years ago | Hey Wilburl, No stress at all. :) Public transportation routes are a bit tricky to map! Any information which you've sourced directly from PTV does need to be removed, but the data you've remembered or gathered from aerial imagery can be kept. So, for example, stop reference numbers from the PTV website should be removed, but numbers you've collected by going to the bus stop and recording it can be kept. Hope that makes sense! |
| 128416002 | about 3 years ago | Hi Wilburl, Thanks for your contributions to SE Melbourne. :) Unfortunately, the PTV website does not have a compatible data license and cannot be used as a source for contributions into OpenStreetMap. The Australian mapping community has compiled a list of compatible sources on the OSM wiki: osm.wiki/Australian_Data_Sources. Happy to answer any questions you have. Dian

| 128152652 | about 3 years ago | No problem at all. :) |
| 128152652 | about 3 years ago | Hi Pkyle, You've updated the address for Highvale Secondary College to 2 Capital Avenue, which does not appear to be correct. 2 Capital Avenue is up the road adjacent Karou Court. According to official sources, the address of the school is 2 (or 2-20) Troy Street?
|
| 128151412 | about 3 years ago | Hey Volga. :) All sources I can find online refer to this park as "Wenden Road Park", in particular official government sources. Would you be able to confirm the source of your change?
|
| 127755060 | about 3 years ago | Hi Volga. In this change, you've added flares to the Pindari Avenue at the roundabout, but you've missed the oneway tags. I've adjusted that for you now.
|
| 127755213 | about 3 years ago | Hi Volga. Continuing from my previous comment, roads should not be duplicated as dual carriageways if there is no physical separation.
|
| 127815151 | about 3 years ago | Hi Volga, The way you have modelled this intersection is unfortunately incorrect. Turn lanes that are not physically separated should not be represented by a different way. Instead, the turn: and change: keys can be used to indicate where a turn lane exists. osm.wiki/Dual_carriageway We use a "box" as an abstract representation of the intersection for easier routing. osm.wiki/Junctions#Dual_carriageway_intersections I've reverted this change, but I'm happy to answer any further questions you might have.
