There is a complete set of OC Transpo routes in a consistent format for PTv1. If all the routes are upgraded to PTv2, then the PTv1 routes can be deleted. Until then, keeping the PTv1 routes is helpful for consistency+completeness, and as a backstop if something goes wrong.

You're welcome. I've found OSM data to be helpful as well when navigating on the trail (especially the less clear sections). If you notice any inaccuracies, please feel free to make changes.

I've looked at v2, and it doesn't seem worth upgrading to it. It would be a lot of work to add stop positions for every bus stop.

Ozz seems to be Ozz Electric (http://www.ozzelectric.com/), although their website doesn't mention this location. I have added the craft=electrician tag, which I forgot to do originally.

Thanks for your response. I am not planning to upgrade any more roads in the near future (I had stopped doing so anyway). Thus, going to Talk-CA is more hassle than it is worth, although I appreciate your offer to do so.

I will revert my highway upgrades in Peel to Boviard, Queen, Hurontario. and Main. I shouldn't have upgraded Lakeshore after your message, that was unnecessarily provocative. I understand and sympathize with your desire for control, even if I still strongly disagree with your classification.

For the record my position is the following: primary roads in Ontario are provincial highways before the 90s downgrade. Most former provincial highways still have the qualities necessary for primary roads, so they should be classified that way. Other provinces/states do not have the same history as Ontario. Following the "only current provincial highway" rule leads to absurd conclusions, like no primary roads in Brampton, Mississauga, or Toronto, which is in variance with the experience of other large cities in Canada, the US, and around the world. Other maps (such as Bing) avoid falling into this trap; this is not a case where OSM is better. There are also many cases when roads increase in traffic but simultaneously decrease in grade, like Highway 7/Boviard at the Halton/Peel line.

On the subject of my local knowledge, how do you know that I don't drive the roads in question daily? In fact I don't, but I have travelled extensively in Peel (I hardly have "no local knowledge"). In fact, these edits were triggered by travelling on the roads in question. In terms of edits, I believe I am actually the biggest editor in Brampton. I have added all the buildings, and surveyed all of the shops on Boviard (west of the 410) and Queen (east of the 410). Some respect might be in order. Certainly, your changeset comment on the Lakeshore downgrade is completely out of line. If you are incapable of this, than please do not contact me again.

I had kind of fallen off on upgrading roads - thank you for the encouragement.

They are major roads that used to be provincial highways. There is no rule that primary highways must be provincial, and following that convention leads to too few primary roads. If you revert these changes, I will revert them back.

I used Esri World Imagery. I think the area is obvious from source imagery - it looks industrial. If it were an import, it would have tell-tale signs, like excessive nodes or not sharing nodes with existing ways. I'm also not aware of a source for this sort of landuse data.
I should say that I occasionally re-use nodes of ways that have been imported.

I've done a bit of research, and it appears that this branch is a "TD Help & Advice Centre", not a "TD Canada Trust". I'm not sure if amenity=bank is actually appropriate here, since it doesn't offer all banking services.
Jarek, please do not contact me to complain in the future - do your own research, and make the changes that you think are appropriate.

To solve this problem, this is what you need to do:
1) only make road/address changes based on data in the OpenData Ottawa portal.
2) Delay your changes to take into account the time to change signs. The easiest way to do this would be to make changes in a batch each year.

1)You are still using ArcGIS as a source, which is unacceptable for OSM. The email is not an acceptable source either, since it is not verifiable by others.
2) Saying that the signs will eventually change isn't good enough.

Since I apparently wasn't clear enough last time, let me repeat myself: I will view any further street name changes as a personal and deliberate insult. That also goes for address additions (that are based on data in ArcGIS, not Open Data Ottawa).

Other problems:
1) You are using the city's ArcGIS server (the backend of GeoOttawa) as a source. This is in violation of the terms of service of GeoOttawa, and the data is not in compliance with OSM's licence. In fact, it is not clear if the public is even meant to have access to this data. I think it is fair to describe this as a wholesale copyright violation.
2) You are not verifying the correctness of the new road names on the ground. I am almost certain the street signs weren't all changed yesterday, so you are changing the road names incorrectly.
3) You aren't keeping the old road name (as old_name, for instance).
