Changeset When Comment

Hi,
Please don't make automated changes of this sort, for places that you are completely unfamiliar with. I purposely don't use leisure=dance and use leisure=fitness_centre instead, because
- leisure=dance isn't as used as leisure=fitness_centre, and so isn't rendered by OSMAnd
- Dance studios are rather similar to other fitness centres

I use office=political_party for constituency offices. It is not a perfect fit, but it is used 2k times.

Hi kartier175,
This changeset makes it very difficult to select the highways underlying the admin boundaries (try to select Merivale Road in ID). It also introduces the "overlapping ways" error in JOSM.

I don't think there is any problem with highways being part of boundary relations, so not making these changes would be one solution to these problems. If you insist on removing highways from boundary relations, creating a small offset between the boundary ways and the highways would be helpful.
Thanks, DannyMcD

Hi Matt,
addr:state is always a stand-in for addr:housenumber, for nodes/closed ways where addr:housenumber is a stand-in for addr:unit. I have fixed the issue here.

Hi Heather,
Could you avoid deleting the railway=abandoned tag? It is still applicable for former rail lines like this one. The combination of railway=abandoned and highway=path is a good way to search for rail trails.

The changeset comment should be "POIs on Colonnade Road"

I've corrected this and the other error you pointed out.

That was a tag added in error when copying+pasting tags with JOSM. I have removed it.

Yes, the ones further east were incorrect, thanks for the catch.

I corrected this, thanks for the pointer. I think I was tricked by the fact that 58 Pixley is right next to 60 Renova.

I think the currently widely used name should be the one in OSM, not the official City of Ottawa name. Update the name when usage changes, not before.

Hi Matthew,
The City of Ottawa is not the only source for street names. In the case of St. Laurent, almost every English source (except for the City, sometimes) spells it "St. Laurent" or "St Laurent". For instance, the mall (http://stlaurentshoppingcentre.com/contact/), Ottawa Community Housing (http://www.och-lco.ca/properties/st-laurent-boulevard/), and the Citizen (https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/shots-fired-on-st-laurent-boulevard-but-no-one-injured) all spell it St. Laurent. Wikipedia also spells it St. Laurent, as does the exit sign on the 417 (see https://www.mapillary.com/map/im/6pm5mZjGd7lB24tq_VGh-Q).
The same goes for Jeanne d'Arc (which also has a Hwy 174 exit sign without the hyphen). There are fewer references to Mer Bleue, but most of those that do exist don't have the hyphen.

The city is right, this was an error.

This changeset was part one of two - I plan on adding more addresses (and deleting duplicates) in a second changeset tomorrow.

I think I have fixed the rendering of the Ottawa River near Ottawa (I noticed the problem as well). These river multi polygon relations are very fragile, you almost have to download the whole thing to make sure they are not broken.

Yes, the southern one should be 558. I have corrected.

way/59374791 is a informal path through empty land, way/591876842 is a new, paved, multi-use path. I can add surface when creating new paths.

Looking at it, my edit yesterday was fine, the problem was that I had previously (in March) transposed 3399 Paul Anka as 3339 Paul Anka. I have corrected this.

The House Number Editor plugin that I use doesn't allow setting unit numbers, so I usually set the unit numbers as addr:housenumber, and the actual house number as addr:state (which I use because it should not otherwise be used). Once I have tagged all of the units of an address, I just correct the tags. I forgot to do so in this case.
I plan to occasionally do Overpass searches for addr:state to catch stray mis-tagged addresses. There are no other uses of addr:state in Ottawa right now.

Searching for the address, it looks like 103 Tay is correct. This is a new (not yet occupied) duplex - the footprint is no longer correct, even the Esri imagery is wrong. More generally, I don't think that the side with more street frontage always has the address - it is usually the side with the main entrance.
