Should probably be refined, by mapping natural features seperately from the island feature, similar to how I did Rotoroa Island

No worries, your initial edit was a fine start, and with the update it's now perfect :) Approximate boundary is also OK, though I will snap it to the coastline, and I'll add the hut. I like that annotation feature on the wikimedia picture, I hadn't seen that before!

Hi Axel, thank you for your addition of the Wharariki Ecosanctuary. You have added two features to represent it (a centre-point, and a boundary polygon). This is discouraged by the principle of "one feature, one OSM element". I would suggest in this case keeping only the boundary polygon. Also perhaps leisure=nature_reserve is a more fitting tag for this feature. OSMWiki page on this principle: osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element

It does need a building tag, plus my suggestion would be leisure=sports_centre, rather than leisure=pitch. See the examples on the wiki (eg "indoor tennis centre"): leisure=sports_centre

Hello Haoze, OpenStreetMap is for mapping real things! I can see you have added several walkways and a retail area which do not exist in real life. These should be removed, and please refrain from adding more "fake" things. If you are learning, please start with this page: osm.wiki/Beginners%27_guide

Hi, welcome to OpenStreetMap. I've reviewed your edit and it looks good. Thanks for leaving a changeset comment explaining what you've changed. One tip is to right-click and 'Square' a building, to make all its corner angles 90 degrees (shortcut is 'Q')

Merged adjacent retail areas. Added grass area

Hey ralley just FYI this changeset added some buildings which no longer exist. Unfortunately the building import dataset is built from fairly old imagery (~2017) predating the busway

"Which is better" really depends on preference, both are approved and correct. Personally I only add separate sidewalks at large, complex intersections (eg major intersections of multi lane roads), where pedestrian crossings are marked and signaled. But you will find residential areas where footpaths are extensively mapped (see Millwater). As long as you keep in mind the routing implications, go for gold :) More reading at osm.wiki/Sidewalks

Careful adding footpaths as separate ways, as this can degrade the pedestrian routing for an area. Particularly if the added footpaths aren't connected to the main road network. There should be a connection at every intersection. For example here is some poor pedestrian routing: osm.org/directions?engine=fossgis_osrm_foot&route=-36.85587%2C174.78721%3B-36.85537%2C174.78898#map=19/-36.85504/174.78903

As a tip, you can switch the background imagery in ID editor. There are more recent layers available, but they are lower resolution. For example "Maxar Premium Imagery" has 2021 imagery across Auckland, but it probably isn't sharp enough to trace things like parking spaces.

Hi KingCZE, thanks for updating building heights, it's great for consumers like this map that plots shadows cast by buildings: https://shademap.app/@-36.84427,174.76151,16.03309z,1642708224843t,0b,0p

I am wondering what is your source for these heights? If it's public I'd like to join in adding this detail.

Hi KingCZE, welcome to OSM and thanks for adding details. I'm questioning this change you have made to the speed limit on this section of East Coast Road, which does not appear to be correct. You have increased the speed limit from 80 km/h to 100 km/h for the segment north of Rodeo Drive, but this is not supported by the AT speed limits dataset, or this recent (Nov 2021) street-level imagery: https://www.mapillary.com/app/?pKey=180502047623738

I've seen there's a signalised pedestrian crossing being installed outside Wolseley Reserve and I'm stoked because I raised it with AT in ~2018 and so I feel personally responsible for it being installed :D

Hi pcuser, welcome to OSM and thank you for your updates to the roads under construction in Graham. I've reviewed your changes and all looks good. Nice work leaving a note on the feature to state that it's an approximate geometry.

Hi Fabian welcome to OSM and thanks for your edits to update speed limits in new residential areas

I believe that the western (rural) part of Matua Road is 80km/h, not 50km/h. My reference is AT's Speed Limit Open Data, at https://data-atgis.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/speed-limits/explore

This will require this road feature to be split into two features (an eastern part at 50kmh, western part at 80kmh). This can be done in the editor by right-clicking a node and selecting Split (shortcut X)

Hi cycle71, thanks for adding more detail to the map. This amenity=social_facility ('The Sands') is already represented by an object, which encompasses the whole property grounds: way/961421687

Ideally we only want one OSM element for every real-world feature, see the guidance on the wiki here: osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element

Hi jayswipe, welcome to OSM and thanks for adding detail to footbridges. I've just reviewed your changes and everything is looking good - great to see footbridges named on the map! However this particular changeset appears to have duplicated an already existing man_made=bridge at the location: way/466900938/ Perhaps you only wanted to add a name to that existing feature?

Hi skgrange,
This LINZ building outlines dataset is currently being imported through a process documented on this wiki page osm.wiki/Import/New_Zealand_Buildings

113264103 about 4 years ago

Nice work. A tip regarding the satellite view: in the editor you can switch between different imagery sources. In the Backgrounds section on the right of the screen, there are several options. The default is "LINZ NZ Aerial" - which in Auckland dates to around 2017. A much more recent imagery source (2021) is "Maxar Premium Imagery" - but you'll notice it is lower resolution.
