Untangled some TIGER data

Posted by Beau Gunderson on 26 May 2008 in English.

Cleaned up the 405/520 interchange East of Seattle. There was a great version worked on by a minimum of 3 OSMers that was all tangled up with the TIGER import data.

The USGS UrbanArea WMS helped a lot:

I also tried to correct all the layers and added bridge tags. Waiting to see how it turns out in Osmarender.

More mapping

Posted by Beau Gunderson on 23 May 2008 in English.

Made it to Honduras today and had some time in the hotel to work on mapping some of my previous GPX tracks. Mapped some highways in Baja California Sur, Mexico as well as a tiny bit of La Paz. The 'simplify way' command in the utilsplugin for JOSM is great. You'll have to change the sensitivity on the Einstein page to get good results, however.

Hello world

Posted by Beau Gunderson on 22 May 2008 in English.

Hanging out in a hotel in El Salvador and uploading the GPX tracks from my trip so far: Seattle to San Miguel over ~6 months.

Wrote a little batch uploader in Python and gave it a delay of 15 minutes so as not to clog up the upload queue.

Also finally made some changes using JOSM. Added a park and a lake near the house I grew up in and also connected a road that was broken in two for some reason (probably due to the automatically imported TIGER data).

Also added some stop signs and traffic signals. Not sure how you'd mark a stop sign that only affected one lane of traffic (at a T-intersection where only the T's 'handle' has to stop, for example).
