Changeset When Comment

Hi, I've now been through all your changes, quite a lot of problems mainly due to being new at OSM contributing. Not a problem now though. The problems were not all your own doing, there were many instances of poorly mapped areas and highways before you started. But once you've got problems on top of problems it becomes very difficult to unpick things.

I'll try to explain the main things to be aware of. Highways should not be joined to anything except another highway, they should not be placed on top of area outlines. Further, area outlines do not usually extend to the centerline of a highway anyway. It took a long tedious time to make lots of corrections here I'll not try to explain everything.

I hope you don't mind me butting in like this but like you, I want a really good OpenStreetMap. Please have a look at the way your paths are now mapped. Bear in mind that there's lots of info online about OSM mapping. Have another go, if you wish give me a comment/nudge here and I could have a look at it. If you need any help at any time please just ask.

Regards Bernard.

Hello, It's actually a very simple task to figure out what has happened in a changeset, no matter the size of the bounding box. It only took a minute, but I accept it is experience that allows one to do this. Using a powerful editor also makes it easy, you should find JOSM is good for this work. It's actually the number of edits in a changeset that can make checking difficult not the size of the bounding box. You should try checking a changeset of a small area that has a few hundred separate edits, (which I frequently do), that is a headache!

Anyway, I checked every change and there was nothing incorrect so please rest assured of this.

Actually, the large bounding box was not intentional, and I am mindful of this. But I do make mistakes as I would think most folk do. So your concern with this could be eternal.

Best Regards Bernard.

Hi, You've probably inadvertently removed the tag highway=path from Way: Sarasota Trail (479327896), Way: Sarasota Trail (1016959035) and Way: Explorer Trail (321031844).

Could you please add back the highway tags, need any help please just ask.

All looks OK now. Cheers!

Hi, You've got a section of the power line duplicated. If there are two overhead power lines out of the substation they should be shown separately. Please see here:- https://tinyurl.com/mr4ywdxm

Hi, There's no need to create a multipolygon here nor to add a POI to a single-use building. It only bloats the database with duplicated/triplicated information. Please see one feature tagging information here:- osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element.

I've amended the church feature adding a few more details.

Hi, Welcome to OpenStreetMap.

I've amended the tags of both sections of Rookery Chase and the crossfield bridleway. This is to meet OSM practice.

Hi, Welcome to OpenStreetMap.

Looks like you've made quite a few inadvertent mistakes. Please read up on OSM practices and maybe look at how other instances of what you're adding have been mapped.

There's a lot of edits you've made with lots of impact on adjoining features. I'll go over all your changesets in due course. Please hang back while I do this. I'll let you know when I've gone over everything.

Regards Bernard.

Hi, Welcome to OpenStreetMap.

Are you sure this is Walgreens and not the church building. There's another building just eastwards that could be Walgreens, (I've now drawn it in). What do you think?

No response so I've removed the duplication, updated existing highways for new info.

Hi, Welcome to OpenStreetMap.

There are problems with the footpath you've added. It crosses and joins several other highways in a haphazard way, in part it is duplication. It being very much incorrect and disrupting routing I've removed it.

Could you explain what you were trying to do? Maybe I can help? Please ask if you need help or advice.

Regards Bernard.

Please resist all capital letters in names.

Hi, Seasons Greetings and Welcome to OpenStreetMap.

I've removed your Station Road as it duplicates an existing highway and is somewhat erratically drawn.

Also, could you please refrain from using all capitals in names and descriptions, it is incorrect and considered as shouting, which you may not realise is very impolite!

Regards Bernard.

Me again, you might like to consider making the walk into a route. Again need help please just ask. Regards Bernard

Hi, You've placed the whole of this section of path Way: Eamon a Chnoic loop (993431869) on top of existing highways, making duplication and disrupting routing. If a way needs amending/correcting it's OSM practice to amend the existing way. Thus your new way ought be removed and the existing ways amended/corrected.

If you need any help please just ask.

Hello, Please don't add back the tags landuse=grass and natural=sand as they are incorrect. The use of this land is playing golf not growing grass. The sand in the bunkers is not a natural feature. Hence the surface=? tags.

Hello, All these footpaths that you've recently drawn do not really look like footpaths. They do however look like field outlines. Could you please verify that they are actually footpaths?

If they are footpaths then you have duplicated many of them. Please see here:- http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/?view=routing&lon=86.67224&lat=20.52866&zoom=17

Also, much of the unclassified highway looks like a canal with tracks on either side of it. Is this really all a highway?

I await your response, Regards Bernard.

Hi, welcome to OpenStreetMap.

Unfortunately this is not drawn as a roundabout, and your edit has dragged the existing highways out of alignment which corrupts proper routing. Thus I've reverted the changeset.

If you need help please just ask.

Hi, It's surface=grass for the grassed areas as the landuse is a sport not growing grass, actually, the cut grass is usually thrown away.

Bunkers are surface=sand rather than natural=sand. It would be very unusual and unknown to a passerby if the sand was a natural occurrence.

Thus I've made a few amendments.

Regards Bernard.
