Now that I've been working on OSM for a few weeks it's time to make my first diary entry.
I mainly added some streets "framing" the town where I live and started detailed mapping on some parts of it.
The osmarender last week was a reminder to me to set street types... ouch, typical beginner's fault...
I hope this will be fixed next week, until then I might even be able to add some more residential roads and the outline of the rest of the town.
Only the current fuel prices (around 1.50 Euros per litre here in germany (or 62 us-cent per gallon)) keep me from adding some villages that are not even mentioned on the map...

I like the concept of Wikipedia, but never managed to write an article which someone else already had done in a better way then I ever could do.
So, when I read about OSM some days ago, I signed up immediately, "pimped" my Becker TA 7934 with PMB 1.0 (enabling it to log routes) and started riding through my local part of Empelde, south of Hannover, Germany.
Doing this and editig the map with JOSM is fun and I hope that someday I will be able to use OSM on my PNA.

Ive been spending my last few days cleaning up the TIGER data in my home city of san gabriel. and adding in map features like schools and what not. after that cleanup i found myself editing and cleaning up the 10 freeway, east to el monte west to downtown.

today i continued my anal retentiveness by editing, cleaning, separating the 4 level interchange between the 101 and 110 freeways. im rather surprised how messy most of the ways in so-cal are. not sure if its bad gps/Tiger data, or just lazy map makers.

so onward i go, in my quest to make maps pritty.

[after i get sick of editing the LA area, ill head back over to east java for some indonesian map making fun!

The Stratford mapping evening was fun.

I wondered down the west side of the cake, and tried to get some more photos to help figure out where the Olympic building site goes up to (further north than we currently have it)

And as I've just written on that wiki page....

When we converged on the pub, there were more people than expected! The areas we managed to cover were strangley sporadic patches in the North, and the South, and less in the middle, so we'll see how that looks in a week or so, once we've all keyed our data in.

There is a lot of unnamed residential streets in this direction, and Stratford is well connected, so it might be a good to revisit with another mapping party.

I'm going to be getting together some information and images to be published in a little Stratford newspaper Any ideas/images? contact me

Three days trekking from Freudenstadt to Hornberg on the Mittelweg and Westweg were a lot of fun. Following the signs involves changing between all sorts of tracks (tracktype 1-5) and footways, and therefore there are now hundreds of small crossings and ten-meters-segments of often named roads ending nowhere. Hopefully someone will find it useful when crossing my roads and will be able to attach her drawings to mines. Wasn't quite sure about how to mark the names and altitudes of the crossings, so used place=locality.

In the past couple of weeks I have been making some rather big edits to Brisbane, Australia.

I have been doing most of the residential streets of Clifton Hill, Wynnum, Manly, Tingalpa, Sunnybank, Brighton, Boondall, Carseldine, Geebung, Bracken Ridge, Redcliffe, and Strathpine.

I also added some parks around the place, and adjusted the coastline between Redcliffe and Wellington Point.

Sorry about not doing this dairy thing earlier, I was really into the editing that I forgot about documenting what I had been doing. No matter, you can still check out my edits in Potlatch.
